"Becoming a Simple Mom" began on November 5, 2011 as a way for me to focus on the simple things in life as my husband and I parent our 4 kids.
As the author of the creative site Somewhat Simple, I have come to realize how much good can come from writing a blog. I continue to develop my creative talents because I am always thinking about content for my site. I've also been able to promote products, programs and events that I love because my blog has given me a great platform to reach thousands of readers. Most of all, I love having a blog for the interaction I get with the creative community. I love reading comments and words of encouragement. I love meeting new people and making new friends, and blogging has given me a great opportunity to hear from others, inspire them and become inspired by them.
While attending Time Out for Women, I started thinking about the one thing in this world that means more to me than anything- my family. If my creative blog was so fun to create and has helped me develop my creative side, maybe writing a blog about my family will help me develop my talents as a mom and turn my thoughts towards my children and family!
I have a great life. It is far from perfect, but it is pretty fantastic.
I want to live in the now and not have any regrets.
I want to live life and laugh about it and overcome the frustrations of it.
I want to deliberatley look for and celebrate the small and simple things that all too often get overlooked.
I want to count my blessings and be reminded that this is what I signed up for and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I want my kids to get sick of me taking pictures of them and then thank me someday for capturing their childhood.
I want to document this time of life when my kids are little to someday show them (in case they forget) what life was like with a mom like me.
I want to hear from others, learn from them and be motivated to follow through. Perhaps together we can inspire and encourage each other.
After all, life is great. It isn't always perfect, but it is pretty fantastic.
